Where’s The Tea Party?

In all the news coverage of the “tax cut deal” it’s been Obama vs. The GOP, Obama vs. The Dems, The GOP vs. The Dems.

Where’s the Tea Party in all of this?

A friend of mine asked me on facebook:

My question is where are all the “Tea Party Like” organizations in all of this. I don’t have email from Freedom Works, the Heritage Foundation, Tea Party Patriots.. the list goes on..

I have not heard a word from one of these groups denouncing what is happening and organizing against it. Sending email is cheap..

Well, the Lynchburg Tea Party is wholeheartedly against it, but he’s got a very valid point. Where are the national organizations saying “HELL NO!”?

At least there are three GOP-ers against it:

Mike Pence: “I believe it is a bad deal for taxpayers that will do little to create jobs, and I cannot support it.”

A wishy-washy Rick Santorum:

I’m not going to criticize anyone who votes for it. I would probably vote against it. I think there’s enough here that we should be able to stand up and say, given the last election, this is not good enough.

And Gary Johnson.

I’m amazed to see Barack “I Won” Obama suddenly falling all over himself to be bi-partisan. (What a load of crap the term bi-partisan is to begin with – when you approach an issue from opposite sides, there’s very little common ground. Voting on that common ground won’t get you any closer to actually fixing the problem and compromising only takes you further from your principles)

Even more amazing is that the party of “Hell No!”, suddenly became the party of “Hell Yes!” The GOP ran against an extension of government spending, including increased unemployment benefits. (As if paying people longer not to work will somehow encourage them to go find work. What moron came up with THAT theory?!) All of a sudden they are hailing this tax cut deal as some sort of victory? Just wait two weeks and pass your own tax cuts and tell Obama, “We Won.”

At any rate, it’d be nice for the cavalry to arrive and save the GOP (and the country) from their very acute case of the stupids. Tea Party… where are you?
