Muslim Opens VA House with prayer for first time ever

Imam Johari Abdul-Malik from Falls Church opened the VA House of Representatives with the first invocation ever given by a muslim. Co-incidentally he is from the same mosque that two 9/11 hijackers worshipped at.

He opened his prayer by saying that everyone was gathered there to acknowledge the Almighty which they knew by other names, then paused and turned to say “Allah” quietly off the microphone.

An historic day in VA for sure. It certainly is no accident that it mirrors an increase in the political activity of muslims. The only question is, will they push to instate Sharia Law in the US like they have in Britain (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,422661,00.html) and have tried to do in other parts of Europe.

  1. Yes, that certainly is the *only* possible question now that the first invocation given by a muslim has happened: Will he now immediately push for Sharia Law? Let’s just thank Allah that no christian has ever tried to enact Christian laws in any government they’ve been a part of.

  2. Oh, and you might try reading the full article you linked to, “Under the act, the sharia courts are classified as arbitration tribunals. The rulings of arbitration tribunals are binding in law, provided that both parties in the dispute agree to give it the power to rule on their case.”

Also, “Jewish Beth Din courts operate under the same provision in the Arbitration Act and resolve civil cases, ranging from divorce to business disputes. They have existed in Britain for more than 100 years, and previously operated under a precursor to the act.”

Have you been whining about the Jewish courts for the last 100 years, or do you simply have something against Muslims? When a Jew is elected to office do you immediately ask if they’re going to institute talmudic law?

What an ignorant and nasty article. Are you implying that Islam is not a real American faith? Are you implying the Imam is a terrorist in disguise? This article cravenly smears with inuendo, reeking with the religious bigotry it cowers to proclaim out loud. Does this “article” accurately represent Tea Party values? In Tea Party America, will non-WASPs be discouraged from being “politically active,” and not invited to lead prayers?

  4. Stating the fact of what happened is nasty? He worshiped at the same mosque that two 9/11 high-jackers… how is that nasty? It’s a fact? Resolving civil cases is one thing, they don’t want to stop there. It was Christians who wrote the Constitution and insured that religion would be separate from law and politics. Our country is founded on the rule of law, when living here you are either an illegal alien, here by visa or a citizen (by birth or other). You follow the laws of the country regardless. There is no room for Sharia Law in our country, period. I’ve never met a Jew in office (or anywhere for that matter) who prays for the destruction of America and its citizens (I’ve never met a Republican Jew either). I’ve met plenty of Islamic Imam’s who do pray for the destruction of America though. And the last I checked we are not in Britain. Either follow the law here or go to another country that has Sharia Law. It’s that simple. Enjoy the right to freedom of religion here, however, if you pray and preach for the destruction and death of America and then run for office, you have to realize most people won’t be to happy about it.

There was nothing in this man of faith’s prayers that remotely involved praying for the destruction of America, or wishing for Sharia law, so your off-topic rant about them shows your true colors. Ignorant bigotry, character assassination by bogus association. Shameful. Completely un-American. Look up Jefferson and Washington’s views on Islam in America. You’re way out of line. And nice random drop of Jew-baiting in there too, by the way; you’re from Virginia and you’ve never heard of Eric Cantor, minority whip, who keeps a kosher house? /facepalm.

I noticed that when faced with the facts, you don’t address them, you throw in additional random, populist, inflammatory and xenophobic smears. And you decided to erase rather than address the last few responses. You are ignorant of the meaning of the word “moderation,” but of course the initial posting showed you were unequiped for the task. I hope someday you are able to overcome your fears and your anger and learn to listen and think and evaluate. That we are in a country that values this and makes it possible is the great triumph of our founding fathers.

  7. You know, I love the fact that you’re so concerned with what I say that you’ve come back THREE times to comment. That’s right, what I say is sooo important to you that you’ve taken time away from your life when you could be doing something worthwhile to try and yell at somebody that really doesn’t give a rat’s ass what you think, nor does he care that you exist.

Next, as a moderator, i can allow or disallow whatever I darn well please. Perhaps YOU should realize that a moderator is the person in charge. I don’t pretend to be unbiased. Of course I’m biased. Have you seen the site? Now as far as erasing comments, I didn’t erase any – I just didn’t think they were worthy of going up. Why? Because let me re-iterate… I don’t care what you think.

However, in the interest of ruining your little moral and historical “highground”… if you’d like to call it that – allow me put a few factual holes in your hot air balloon of political correctness:

    1. “From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli” or “Millions for Defense. Not one Penny for Tribute!”

In Thomas Jefferson’s letter to John Jay regarding the Barbary Coast pirate problems he mentioned that he was told by Tripoli’s Ambassador that:

“it was written in the Koran, that all Nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon whoever they could find and to make Slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Mussulman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.” – Ambassador Abd Al-Rahman of Tripoli

The United States played no part in the Crusades NOR in the Spanish reconquest of Andalusia. There was no self-defense/payback here on the part of the muslims. It was totally 100% because as muslims they were told in the Koran that they could do whatever they wanted to non-Muslims. Not much has changed since 1785. In fact, not much has changed since Mohammed created Islam – hey, no one can say he didn’t lead by example as he was directly involved in 56 military campaigns in the last DECADE of his life. (And in case anyone with a brain cares, there were roughly 1.5 MILLION Europeans and Americans taken as slaves by the muslims between 1530 and 1780 – including the ENTIRE town of Baltimore in Ireland which was carried off in a single night.)

Oh and regarding your thoughts on Jefferson and Washington’s views on Islam in America – there were no muslims in America when they were alive, but Jefferson certainly didn’t have a bit of problem sending over the Marines to fix the problems they were causing OUTSIDE of America.

    2. Regarding “smears” against islam…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug2XI9U5qXI

You should probably “learn to listen and think and evaluate” that (see above). Taken from “Slavery, Terrorism and Islam” by Dr. Peter Hammond.

We are in a country that values FREEDOM from tyranny and individual liberty. Perhaps before you go waxing about the founding fathers, you should realize that they recognized the threat that islam presented 200+ years ago and sent the marines to go fix the problem.

    3. Not sure what your problem is with “WASP’s” (bigot calling the kettle black?) and the Tea Party, but perhaps you should realize for just a moment that the Tea Party is over 50% women and minorities. Who’s the ignorant one now?

But hey, continue getting mad at me and wasting your time getting your panties in a bunch about how “mean” I am. I frankly don’t care, and I find it partially amusing. Happy turkey day… turkey.

    /facepalm
